What we do
We are a local organisation run entirely by volunteers from the Holmes Chapel and Goostrey community. We provide volunteer transport to medical appointments for those with no other means of getting there.
Who we serve
Local residents without access to transport can contact us for assistance with transportation to medical appointments or welfare events (eg Memory cafe, Dentist appointment, Optician appointment). Passengers must live within the catchment area for Holmes Chapel Health Centre. If you are not sure whether you live within the catchment area, please use the postcode checker on the Holmes Chapel Health Centre website.
Where we go
We transport passengers across Cheshire East to destinations as close as Holmes Chapel village centre, to as far afield as Liverpool and Manchester.
Get in touch on 07856 469508 to confirm that we are able to provide transport to your required medical destination. We do our very best to support all the destinations requested by our passengers.
Our History
"Holmes Chapel and Area Christian Communicare" was founded in 1981 as a caring and transport service. Over time, the transport service became the main focus of the group. The organisation flourished and was well supported by volunteers and much loved by local residents who relied on the group to transport them to medical appointments across the local area and further afield. In March 2020, "Holmes Chapel and Area Christian Communicare" was forced to cease operations due to COVID. During the closure the committee at the time made the decision to stand down after many years of dedicated service, and in 2021 the organisation was relaunched as "Holmes Chapel and District CommuniCARe", under the care of a new committee. Many of the original drivers and coordinators still volunteer with the organisation and in addition CommuniCARe continues to grow, welcoming new drivers and coordinators with whose support we are able to continue to meet the needs of our community.
